In order to ensure that critical pre-operative steps are completed, all surgical patients are fitted with a CheckSite ID Bracelet upon admission. Each bracelet is equipped with an active microchip.
The staff initials a CheckSite Safety Card as they complete critical processes in the pre-op area.
Hospitals choose which steps to include on the custom made cards.
In this example, the completion of three critical safety processes must be verified by the staff.
Once the chosen pre-op steps are verified and the Safety Card is complete, a staff member (or surgeon) peels the green deactivation label from the card and applies it over the "HOLD" portion of the patient's bracelet.
The green "O.K." label visually indicates that the chosen critical pre-operative steps are complete.
In the event that the "O.K." label is not applied and the CheckSite Bracelet is not deactivated, a warning tone will sound as the patient passes by the CheckSite Sentries before they reach the operating room area.
The warning tone reminds the staff to stop and confirm that all critical pre-operative steps have been completed prior to taking the patient in for surgery.
